ShadeX Patio Umbrella Fabric Extension Installation Manual

Warning:

  • Do not turn the stainless steel rod other than the directions of arrows embedded on hinge (see photo 1). Failure to do so will break the hinge.
If you bought the 8-rib version
  • Fabric extension panel (the panel) is made for 8-rib umbrella's and can only fit on the patio umbrella with 8 ribs.
If you bought the 6-rib version
  • Fabric extension panel (the panel) is made for 6-rib umbrella's and can only fit on the patio umbrella with 6 ribs. If you are unsure which version you have purchased, please look at the sticker on polybag that holds your ShadeX fabric extension or on the label that is sew in the seam of your ShadeX.
  •  Please always close the umbrella when it is not in use or during strong wind. The add-on panel collects more wind than a regular umbrella.
How to operate your ShadeX
Steps
     1) Loosen the screw on the base (see photo 2) so umbrella can be turned freely.
     2) Open the umbrella halfway so you can stand under it with end of rib at arm's reach.
     3) Turn the side that tilts toward you. You can install the panel on any side if your umbrella does not have tilt function.
     The panel aligns perfectly with tilt direction on 6-rib umbrella. With the panel installed on the tilt side provides
     maximum shade coverage when sun is at a lower angle. The alignment is a bit off when it is on 8-rib umbrella.
     4)  Turn the stainless steel rod to the position per photo 3.
     5)  Hang the bracket onto rib with blade inside the rib pocket of the umbrella per photo 4.
     Fasten the bracket to rib with the black hook and loop tape.
     6)  Install the panel on the rods with back side of panel facing you. Insert each rod into the related rod tube on panel
     one (1) at a time until the black elastic band at the opening of tube is in the neck of rod end near hinge per photo 5.
     7)  After all three (3) rods are in the tubes (see photo 6), turn the rods, one (1) by one (1), so the rods are parallel with
     the umbrella rib per photo 7. Fully open the umbrella and enjoy this wonderful product all summer long.
     8)  Turn umbrella with the open panel toward sun for the maximum shade coverage.
     Tilt the umbrella toward the sun when needed.
     9)  When not in use or during strong winds, fold the panel inside of umbrella per photo 8 before you close the umbrella.
